Our rationale for choosing these seats

We’ve selected seats where Progressive candidates are battling against a Conservative candidate in either first or second place (based on 2015 General Election results). Our main advice is to strategically put our canvassing energy into marginal seats to try to stop a Tory or UKIP win. But selecting target constituencies is an imprecise science. We’ve chosen these seats on a number of factors limited below including:

  • Close marginals from 2015 General Election
  • 2016 EU referendum results, where previous UKIP votes might translate into Conservative votes in some areas
  • choosing a spread of Labour, Green, Plaid Cymru and Lib Dem target / defence seats so that non-aligned canvassers have a choice of parties and to promote the idea of progressive alliances
  • constituencies that our volunteers can access based on our first 1000 sign ups
